Jacksonville · Duval & St. Johns Counties
A women's recovery residence rooted in community, dignity, and whole-person healing.
Our name
The aya is a fern that grows in hard places — a symbol of endurance and resourcefulness. It is where a woman has been, and proof of what she can still become.
Roots & Wings is a home, not a facility. We draw on a communal model of healing — the belief that recovery holds when a woman is surrounded by people who see her whole. Each resident will move through the eight-level Aya Journey at her own pace, with structure, dignity, and a community that stays.
We are MAT-inclusive and spiritually non-prescriptive: your pathway is yours. Whether that's 12-Step, SMART Recovery, faith, or something you're still finding, you're welcome here exactly as you are.
Roots & Wings
Recovery housing is only the foundation. Everything here is designed to help a woman rebuild a life she wants to stay for.
Individualized support, not one-size-fits-all. We welcome women on Medication-Assisted Treatment and honor whatever pathway keeps you well — recovery looks different for everyone, and that's respected here.
Job-readiness support, résumé and interview preparation, connections to local workforce partners, and financial-literacy education to help you budget, save, and plan for lasting stability.
From GED completion to college enrollment and vocational certifications, we help each resident name her educational goals and take real, supported steps toward them.
Whole-person wellness
A safe bed is where we begin, not where we stop. Aya tends the whole woman — her body, her belonging, and the future she's building.
The Aya Journey
Like a fern uncurling frond by frond, recovery here is a sequence a woman grows through — not a checklist she completes. Each level has its own meaning, ceremony, and marker.
For clinical & community partners
We're preparing to welcome our first residents and connecting now with discharge planners, case managers, drug-court staff, and treatment providers across Duval and St. Johns. If you place women who need MAT-inclusive, women-only Level II housing, we'd like to be on your list.
