Roots & Wings
Recovery Residence

A women-only, MAT-inclusive Level II recovery home in Jacksonville — designed for whole-person healing, not just a safe place to sleep.

What sets Aya apart

A rare combination in one home

Each of these exists somewhere in the region. Almost nowhere do they exist together — which is exactly the gap Roots & Wings is built to fill.

Women, fully centered

A residence designed around women's recovery, safety, and community — not a co-ed model adapted after the fact.

MAT-inclusive without apology

Women on medication are welcomed and supported, opening the door to those most residences quietly turn away.

Whole-person by design

Movement, nourishment, purpose, and belonging are built into the program — not optional extras.

Meaning without a mandate

A spiritually rich, ceremony-marked journey that never prescribes a single belief system.

Community that continues

Graduates return as mentors, so belonging doesn't end at discharge — it deepens into legacy.

Growth we can measure

We track recovery capital across eight domains, so progress is visible to residents and partners alike.

Whole-person wellness

Four ways we help a woman come home to herself

Sobriety is the beginning, not the whole of it. These pillars run through daily life at Roots & Wings.

Movement

Our wellness model pairs trauma-informed yoga with gentle movement, helping women reconnect with bodies that stress and substances taught them to leave — building breath, strength, and stillness they can keep for life.

Nourishment

The program is built around two farm-to-table meals a month — one just for residents, a private table of their own, and one Community Table that welcomes a small, reserved number of neighbors so the wider community can share in the meal without overwhelming the home. Paired with a culinary-arts track, the shared table becomes both a ritual of belonging and a path to real vocational skills.

Ceremony & community

Every stage of the journey is designed to be marked with meaning — small rituals, tokens, and a graduation ceremony led by a fellow graduate. Milestones are witnessed, so growth is felt, not just recorded.

Ritual · Belonging

Purpose & vocation

Job-readiness support, financial literacy, and education pathways — from GED to college to certifications — help each woman build a life worth staying for, on her own terms.

Employment · Education

The Aya Journey

Eight levels, one unfolding path

Like a fern uncurling frond by frond, recovery here is a sequence a woman grows through — not a checklist she completes. Each level carries its own meaning, ceremony, and marker.

Measured growth

We track what recovery is actually made of

Recovery capital — the internal and external resources that sustain a life in recovery — will be measured across eight domains as each woman moves through the journey. Progress becomes visible to her, and reportable to the partners who place her.

Building the referral network before our doors open

We're connecting now with discharge planners, case managers, drug-court staff, and treatment providers across Duval and St. Johns. If you place women who need MAT-inclusive, women-only Level II housing, we'd like to be on your list.
